Comments: It's reviewed above. All went well until I lited a cigarette. Then, the maitre d' turned my 60th birthday party sour. He invaded my space and became offensive. I won't go back. Why didn't they put up little plastic signs saying NO SMOKING? My hostess came from Omaha, she paid for dinner for eight, she paid for a limo, she did the best she could and then," Sir, you can not smoke in here"--right in my face. Not again, thank you very much! She paid for dinner for eight, She paid for a limo. And then this obnoxious behavoior.

Comments: When you want to have an experience to remember please save up your skeckles and go here - at least once! It's worth the trip. My husband and I have only dined here 3 times but each time was a fantastic treat. They treat you like royalty and the food is wonderful. I haven't been back since the new chefs have arrived but I am eager to give them a try. Hopefully it won't disapoint.

Comments: We had the most memorable evening at this restaurant for a 50th anniversary dinner for 15. The service was beyone exceptional. If I had to do it all over again, I'd do the exact same thing. Our only objection was that we didn't like the food. It was obviously excellent quality, just too different.

Favorites: Chef's Tasting
Comments: This was a mutual present to myself and my girlfriend. So we get there at 6:30, reservations at 7. They seat us, and by seat us, they literally do just that. The booth is a right angle, and they pull the table out so you can get in, then push it up to you. Immediately a man in a bowtie pours your water ... from a glass bottle he just opened. The waitress comes to the table with a Wine Bible. Literally, it weighed 8 pounds and had thousands of wines from all over the world in it. We decided to let the waitress pick one (we told her under $35. They had some that were nearly $2,000 a bottle) They open it in front of you, then pour a sip or two for you to taste and approve of. Sarah approved and the rest of the glass was poured. It was a good wine...kind of woodsy and smokey. Then you are given two hot rolls and a slab of butter. One roll is like a wheaty type, and the other covered in sesame seeds. Then we ordered the $75 five course Chef's Inspiration. Our second course (the first was rolls) was a small triangle of garlic toast with a crab and lobster meat mixture on top. It was GOOD! Then came the pan roasted scallops with a mushroom ragout. Those were also very tastey. A delicious lemony flavored salad came next with what's called "daikon raddish" and hearts of palm. Somewhere in between all this was a Riesling sorbet. Fifth course was Kobe Beef with some kind of an Asian-y noodle with carrots and celery. Kobe Beef comes from Japan and fetches as much as $600 a pound sometimes! It is from cattle that are given beer (which stimulates their eating duing colder months) and receive massages (to relax the cow and make it more comfortable resulting in a more tender meat). IT WAS SO GOOD. Then we had some kind of a butterscotch puddingy stuff topped with creme fraiche and an oatmeal caramel crispy wafer drizzeled in caramel. Then we each received a chocolate truffle. WOW. What a meal and what a place. I wish I was filthy rich to the point I didn't know what to do with all my money, because I'd dine there every other day. Save up. We had a free entree good up to $30 (my mom donates money to Public Television and they sent her a card good at different places in KC) so with tip, our bill ONLY ended up being....(drum roll) $212

Comments: I just don't know where there is a better dining experience in this city. From the food to the service to the ambience, it's first-class all the way. My pockets aren't deep enough to eat dinner there regularly, but I recommend the 3-course lunch, which goes for $20. That's a hard deal to beat. They've also got some great happy hour deals during the week, a good deal for the office workers nearby. Outstanding place!
