Restaurant: Arthur Bryants BBQLocation: Brooklin and Station Casino
Cuisine: BBQPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience:  Notes:
Food: *** excellent Notes: Best in KC-Always freshly sliced-not precut and reheated.
Service: * averageNotes:
Favorites: All meats and fries freshly prepared for each order-only way for good BBQ
Comments: I can't believe you list kc barbq and leave out the best in kc. This is one of the original and the few that slices the meat when preparing the sand, or plate. Light smoke flavor is retained and the meat is not dry. Nothing fancy but in my openion the best in Kansas City in Resturant Barb.

Food: **** superbNotes: Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Favorites: Beef and fries, bar none!!!!!
Comments: Bryant's is the greatest. The first time I had the beef and fries, I thought I was in BBQ heaven. The fries are so awesome, I could eat just them for a meal. If I'm real hungry, I'm capable of eating 2 beef and fries in a short time. The most awesome sandwich and fries I've ever had.

Favorites: Ribs; combo plate; and fries
Comments: Have been eating bryants for 40 years. Went to the Ameristar to eat there; food was just ok..ribs were dry; frys were cold; and the sandwich was the size of a regular sandwich; not what bryants is used to serving. We were very disappointed; so guess we will head back to Brooklyn to eat BBQ

Food: ** very goodNotes: Lots of good food! Simple - Nothing "flashy" here
Service: ** very goodNotes: Such good food, there's usually a few people in line
Favorites: Do I have to decide!?
Comments: If it's good enough for president's and other famous people to eat here - it's good enough for me! Think of it as a cultural experience - a flashback to the kitchen's of the 50's-60's.

Restaurant: Arthur Bryant'sLocation: 18th & Brooklyn
Cuisine: BBQPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: *** excellentNotes: Atmosphere fits menu perfectly. Don't mess with perfection!
Food: **** superbNotes: As far as BBQ is concerned, it just doesn't get any better.
Service: *** excellentNotes: "No-nonsense," yet very accomodating and gracious. 1st. rate
Favorites: Sliced Beef & Ham, Burnt Ends, Beans, Fries, etc.
Comments: As far as K.C. BBQ is concerned, Arthur Bryant's 18th. & Brooklyn eatery is the benchmark by which all other pretenders will forever be judged. There is simply no finer source for slow-roasted, smoked meat in the known universe. A.B.'s defies negative opinion; any naysayer is simply wrong. The Original Sauce is quite unique and may take some getting used to, but persevere...it's worth it. In the meantime, there's the more traditional Rich & Spicy alternative. Buy a bottle of each for private home tinkering. Pick up one of their cool t-shirts and be the envy of all your friends! Since writing this review, I've developed some powerful hungries for a big plate of A.B.'s, and I believe that's probably the most sincere compliment I could pay them. Go there. Now.

Restaurant: Arthur Bryant'sLocation: 18 th & Brooklyn, KCMO
Cuisine: Bar-B-QuePrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: *** excellentNotes: excellent if there to eat BBQ, crappy if there to socialize.
Food: **** superbNotes: The food is what midwest BBQ is all about.
Service: ** very goodNotes:
Favorites: Slab, fries & pickles.
Comments: In both quanity, and quality...it has no peers. Started eating there in the seventies, and have never once been dissapointed. I try to emulate them every time I start a fire, but never even come close. If you too love good bar-b-que, you owe it to yourself to give it a try; and don't worry about the atmosphere...I've never seen really good bbq served at a fancy resturant

Cuisine: Bar B QuePrice:
Ambience: * averageNotes:
Food: substandardNotes:
Service: poorNotes: Plenty of workers just standing around
Favorites:
Comments: The past four times we've been to this resturant, we've stood in line only to find out when we get close to ordering that they are out of at least two of the four kinds of meat. Employees standing in back eating which causes lines when ordering and lines to pay. Hopefully their lease will not be renewed!

Ambience: *** excellentNotes: Signed "visitor" pictures are worth looking at
Food: *** excellentNotes: Mustardy sauce but great for a change
Service: ** very goodNotes:
Favorites: Burnt-End sandwich
Comments: We are blessed to have such great BBQ to choose from in KC. Arthur Bryants sauce has more mustard than Gates, but, both are equally tasty in my book. (KC Masterpiece is too, too sweet). The Burnt-End sammy from AB's is enough for 2-3 meals for the average guy. Well worth the price.

Restaurant: Arthur BryantsLocation: 18th & Brooklyn
Cuisine: Bar-B-QPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: * averageNotes: The way street corner restaurants used to be
Food: **** superbNotes: This is Real Bar-B-Q
Service: ??Notes: Famous for their "what do you want ... here it is" service
Favorites: Ribs
Comments: I've been eating AB's for over 30 years and crave the stuff. I have them ship the sauce to me in AR so I don't die of a sugar overdose from the local BBQ. If you haven't tried AB's you haven't eaten BBQ.

Food: * averageNotes: My first time there..Not as good as I thought it would be.
Service: * averageNotes: See notes...
Favorites: Fries...BBQ wasn't that great.
Comments: I have lived in the KC area for 5 years, and Gates has been my primary BBQ stop. I thought I'd try Arthur Bryants. I had a pork sandwich, which was very large, but the seasoning and sauce were both very salty. My wife had a turkey sandwich, and again, the rub was extremely salty, which we didn't like. I saw a customer in a somewhat heated discussion with the manager about something...I think he wanted a refund because he didn't like the food. In that case, the customer was not treated well, as she basically told him to kiss off. Very strange for a business that just opened.

Food: **** superbNotes: _
Service: * averageNotes: _
Favorites: BBQ meats on bread, fries, beans
Comments: When we went to KC for the first time, I asked some locals about where to go. Over 50% said Arthur Bryant's followed by Gates, KC Masterpiece and others. We were not disappointed by Arthur Bryant's - simply the BEST barbeque I've ever had. The only other place that's ever come close is Bullock's in Durham, NC, but a totally different style and tough to compare the two. I can't get any decent sauce up here in Minnesota (land of Famous Dave's), so I order up AB sauce and rub from their website and try to make my own!

Comments: Best brisket in the country as long as you are buying it when it is fresh out of the oven. If your are looking for waitresses and fancy service this is not the place for you, if you want great food and no nonsense service this is the place to eat. I used to eat 1-3 times a week there until i moved out of KC, but always eat there whenever I come to visit.

Food: substandardNotes: sauce was probably the worst ever
Service: * averageNotes: _
Favorites: beef sandwhich with 2 slices of wonder bread
Comments: This was probably one of the worst barbeque places i have ever ate. The neighborhood was extremely scary, the people working were scary, and the sauce was horrible! Definetly not one of Kansas City's best barbeque.

Food: *** excellentNotes: Ask for a Doggie bag when you order ya'ain't gonna finish it
Service: * averageNotes: not any foo-foo waiters here
Favorites: Burnt End Sandwich
Comments: It may not be fancy but "Black Tie" and BBQ don't go together. Roll up you sleeves and ask for extra napkins, becasuse you won't want to put it down until the sauce starts dripping off your elbows, and maybe not then.

Comments: I'm from Oklahoma City. WE don't have bar-b-que like this. The amount of meat on the sandwich is ridiculous. I had the rich and spicy sauce and it was fantastic. I definately recommend this to anyone visiting the kc area

Service: ** very goodNotes: _
Favorites: combo sandwich w/ fries
Comments: This is the best place in town for a big, fat heaping meat sandwich and a plate of fries ... always more than you can eat, and you won't want to stop. The sauces are the best I've ever had, and I've eaten at every bbq joint in KC.

Restaurant: Arthur Bryant's BBQLocation: 18th & Brooklyn
Cuisine: BBQPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: *** excellentNotes: real diner style, cause it probably hasn't changed since '20
Food: **** superbNotes: perfect BBQ and home cooked fries
Service: *** excellentNotes: very friendly and fast
Favorites: Full Slab Ribs, beans and fries
Comments: We stopped for supper with the whole family (3 kids under 7 included) because we heard it was the best. We didn't really know what to expect. The ordering at the counter was a little tough with the kids and the long line, but boy was it worth it. The food was great, no franchise bbq taste here. The service was fast and friendly, the cashier took the time to give us directions to a good ice cream place afterwards. And the best thing was nobody cared that the kids were covered in BBQ sauce by the time we left...okay maybe we all were!!
