Favorites: The best baked beans in KC
Comments: The bbq is average, which for KC means that it is good compared to other metro areas. Stop at Zarda for the beans, but stay away from the grocery store Zarda beans...not the same.

Favorites: Burnt Ends
Comments: This is hands down the best Bar-B-Que in the Kansas City area. The burnt ends and onion rings are just excellent. The sauce is the finest BBQue sauce I have ever had--and you can stock up on it at the Price Chopper in Blue Springs or Independence for less than $2.00 a bottle. Got to be the best bargain ever!!

Ambience: ** very goodNotes: always bright and cheerful and clean
Food: *** excellentNotes:
Service: ** very goodNotes:
Favorites: Turkey sandwich, salad bar, beans
Comments: I read reviews that were horrible and I wonder what's wrong with those people! This is a great place! The non-smoking atmosphere is wonderful! And I've never had a really bad meal there -- the shrimp was disappointing just because I thought it would be grilled, not breaded and fried.

Favorites: None
Comments: Typical Kansas City BBQ: IT SMELLS BETTER THAN IT TASTES. The solution: all KC BBQ restaurant owners need to visit the Southwest (CA, AZ, NM) and taste real BBQ. They would also discover that real BBQ is NEVER served with french fries, a piece of stale white bread, and pickles. GET A CLUE KC.....YOUR BBQ IS LOUSY AND A BIG JOKE!

Comments: I've been eating KC barbecue all my life. It has always amazed me how some of these places stay in business. Well, here's one of my pet peeves: If the counter help puts meat into a MICROWAVE after you order it, get the *&!@ away from there! Microwaved barbecue is not real barbecue, no matter how much it reeks of hickory. Jeeze, people, get a clue!

Food: **** superbNotes: Best in town, meat is juicy and tender
Service: ** very goodNotes: No one screams at you when you walk in
Favorites: Smoked ham sandwich, ribs, sausage sandwich
Comments: I like Gates' sauce a little better, but no one has better meats (beef, ham, turkey, sausage, etc.). Its cool that they have a lot of pictures of Chiefs players and other famous Kansas Citians and Senators eating at the restaurant.

Comments: I wrote a review in 200 calling Zarda's the best BBQue in Kansas City. Honesty makes me write and say that I have changed my mind since I have eaten at the Smokehouse in Independence, but it is still in my top five.

Food: * averageNotes: ribs awful-not baby back if that's what you had in mind!!!
Service: * averageNotes: _
Favorites: BBQ beef sandwich
Comments: This is a fairly good place if you want a quick barbeque meal in the middle of a busy day. However, I'm not sure what you people like about this place's sauce, it really is flavored ketchup (I'm a bit spoiled, however after going to a couple BBQ festivals). I would recommend Jack Stack's sauce over this any day. Ribs are the nastiest i've ever had, was expecting baby back ribs, but got tough, chewy and fatty beef ribs. Absolutely disgusting. Pretty average restaurant even after all my negative comments, however.
