Comments: The food is wonderful. I love cajun food and have frequented most of the cajun places in town. This is a great place to go north of the river. However, It's not as good as Kiki's-Bon-Ton in Westport. But its better than Big Daddy's in the River Market.

Restaurant: Jazz A Louisiana KitchenLocation: 39th & State Line
Cuisine: Cajun/AmericanPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: * averageNotes: Jazz has a look all it's own.
Food: * averageNotes: Pack some Zantec 75!
Service: * averageNotes: The servers serve. This is'nt Hooter's!
Favorites: Blackend Fillet Mignon & Stuffed Catfish.
Comments: Louisiana Jazz, Kansas City Style!
Jazz is one of my favorite places in Kansas City to go to hang out, listen to some Jazz music, eat food that is'nt very healthy and consume my alcholic beverage of choice-Michelob Light. I personally give Jazz a *** Rating! If you don't mind a little dirt & grease. You'll love the Jazz! Grab a pen sign your name on the wall, It's Kansas City Jazz at a Louisiana Kitchen.

Restaurant: JazzLocation: Olathe, KS
Cuisine: CajunPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: ** very goodNotes:
Food: substandardNotes: not what it's cracked up to be
Service: * averageNotes: average
Favorites: crawfish
Comments: Our party of 4 all experienced terrible food! This was a poor excuse for cajun cuisine as anyone who's traveled in the south will know. The only bright spot was the boiled crawfish - very tasty.

Food: ** very goodNotes: Cooked just right with the right amount of spice.
Service: poorNotes: 2.5 hours and at least 4 dif servers

Comments: This was our second visit and probably our last. Service was terrible...lost our order....then made excuses for errors on the bill. We made them correct it twice!! Clearly not interested in servicing the customer and that was the manager!

Restaurant: JazzLocation: 119th & Strang Line - Olathe
Cuisine: CajunPrice: $$$ moderate
Ambience: *** excellentNotes: Lively atmosphere
Food: **** superbNotes: The best cajun in the area
Service: *** excellentNotes: Very attentive, occasionally overworked
Favorites: Stuffed Catfish
Comments: My experience has been much different from the others reviewing the Olathe location. I have eaten at Jazz eight to ten times over the past eighteen months and have always had a good experience. The food has always been execellent, the servers friendly and the atmosphere lively. Occasionally the servers are a little slow from having numerous tables but they are always friendly. I highly recommend Jazz.

Restaurant: Jazz - A Lousiana KitchenLocation: 39th & State Line
Cuisine: CajunPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: *** excellentNotes:
Food: **** superbNotes:
Service: *** excellentNotes:
Favorites: Gumbo, Chicken Fettucine
Comments: I would reccomend that anyone who has had a bad experience with this restaurant in the Lee's Summit, Olathe, or NW KC location to try the one on 39th street before passing judgement. I went to the Olathe location after going only to the 39th street location and found the Olathe version to be EXTREMELY lacking. Service was terrible and the food was NOT prepared the same. Apparently they can't handle spice in the suburbs because I had to add quite a bit of the Jazz "Bon Ton" spice to make my chicken fettucine even resemble the way it is prepared down in the city. If you are at the 39th st. location - Great Food, Great Service. Anywhere else, you're taking your chances...

Favorites: try something differnt every time. it's all pretty darned good.
Comments: i've had bad experiences with slow/no service here. the one down town is much better. my mother, some of her friends, my sister and i showed up and waited 15 min for someone to talk to us. finally we just sat down (there were only 1 or 2 tables taken) and then when i finally went to ask for service (about annother 15 min), we were yelled at for not waiting to be seated. understaffed at 5pm with only about 15 people in the place eating. hrm.

Comments: i moved here from the southeast. for the past several years, ive gone to new orleans once a month. i read other reviews, and this is supposed to be the best cajun in kc. i will give them a second chance, but they have a lot of work to do. honestly, im not a super picky person... but i almost sent my food back. i can count on one hand the times ive done that in my life. on top of the mediocre quality, and small quantity, its overpriced.

Food: **** superbNotes: Huge Portions! Great Food!

Favorites: Chicken A La Mer!
Comments: Forget all of the new out of town restaurants in the Northland! Jazz has them all beat. I go there every Thursday for $0.50 oysters and $1.75 Boulevard Beers. Food and service are always excellent and have never had a bad experience in seven years I've been going there! Keep up the good work!
