Restaurant: Red VineLocation: 18th and Vine
Cuisine: CajunPrice: $$$ moderate
Ambience: * averageNotes: The owners have really invested here and it shows.
Food: * averageNotes: Food is not worth the money you pay for it.
Service: poorNotes: Our food was slow and the staff was rude when we complained
Favorites: salads
Comments: The atmosphere is okay. I was disappointed with the requirement for a cover charge even if you eat. I was also disappointed with the food prices of around $15-20 for the average entree. Sandwich meals are a little less expensive. The food was not great. The drinks were small and were still $7-9. The waiter was wonderful, but his supervisor was rude. The manager was somewhat accomodating. I do not reccomend this resturant.

Comments: Horrible experience. We'll never go back & I don't recommend it. Got there @ 2:30 & didn't leave until after 4:00. Waiter was absolutely pathetic. He knew nothing about the menu and could not suggest anything. Asked if we could substitute blackened shrimp for blackened chicken...yes for $3 additional. Waited 45 minutes for our salads, and an hour for the entree, then the shrimp was NOT blackened and Alfredo sauce was watery. Waiter had to have help from bartender to make change & even then it took 5 minutes. I'm sorry, I want it to be successful, nice atmosphere, but please don't waste your time and money.

Comments: The resturant was beautiful, I just knew it would be a great place for my husband and I to come have dinner and listen to some great music. Boy!! was I wrong. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. and was never served water or even asked if we wanted anything. We had our menus forever I think I memorized the whole thing. Finally my husband went to the manager for that night which was Friday 10/15/04 to complain. The manager said Well you should had said something . My husband said there is 5 to 8 waiters in here and its not that crowded and not one waiter , manager or owner has come to our table to ask us what we would like to order. The manager said lets not make this a black and white thing my husband said now that you mention it - the white couple to my left came in 30 minutes after we did and they had a waiters at their table they have ordered, eaten and gone. Please work on the poor service and get a new manager who cares about the customer and a manager who don't think you have to yell across the room to get service! Thank you.

Comments: I've attended the restaurant on three occassions and found each experience to be nice. Service on one occassions was a little slow but I understand the employment issues faced with restaurants. I'm sure it would help if management would be a little more attentive to their customers while waiting on their food. This may make the customers feel that you care about them as a customer. It's important to make the customer feel you are trying very hard to get their food out in a timely fashion. That's where management should step in.

Comments: It was awful went there from the Blue Room on a Friday night(4/15/2005) wanted to continue listen to Jazz however I was hungry, also I thought this would be the perfect place plus I had been wanting to attend. Oh my goodness! I should have never did that. Took 45min to get a drink called over the manager who said he apologized and would get right on that. It took him another 20min to get back. I was with a party of 6 two of them complained and left the other 4 of us stayed and he assured us it would be better plus offered a 10% discount. Well, not only did it not get better but we asked for the owner and she came over and was not any better. Her response for us telling her that our service had been poor was "don't go around town telling everyone that you had bad service here tell them that you had a bad server." "Make sure you get the word correct". I was out done by her responses and lack of concern for her customer service when one of the ladies in our party explained to her she need to work on her customer service skill she told her and so do you. I would say that if they would just get a new staff it may be better however bad service is coming from the top down

Comments: I was very disappointed with the service at this restaurant. A friend suggested The Red Vine and I have heard terrible reveiws about the place from family & friends but still decided to see for myself. We (group of 6) certainly received the same poor service described by family & friends. It took 45 mins to order a drink - I don't think we would have ordered that soon had it not been for a musician performing that night who came by our table to see if everything was ok. We told him how long we'd been there and that we would not be back. He then tracked down our waiter and a manager. The manager was better, but I think it's very poor service to have paying guests waiting 45 minutes without water or any attention. The food was ok - nothing to shout and scream about. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. Save your money and time. Go to the Blue room to hear some nice jazz, then go to one of your favorite restaurants and enjoy great food and good service. This is an honest reveiw.

Comments: This is a really nice place to dine. Although I don't like the cover charge on the nights there is music I do understand that the bands have to be paid. The service was great and this place was truly needed in that area. Its new and still making changes for the better but all around this is a wonderful place to dine.

Comments: I came in for a carry out order. I arrived at 9:45pm. I was told by the bartender that it would only take 15minutes. It took OVER AN HOUR to get a CARRY OUT order. The manager came out 45 minutes into our wait, apologized for the inconvenience, gave us our food for free and told us, and I quote "you food was cooked and then placed into the refrigerator which is why your wait was so long". I couldn't believe my ears. Not only that but the cooks had been in a fight and the police had to be called. Someone please help them at the Red Vine!!!
