Comments: Same good food & service as in Tulsa. Portions are huge. I can't remember the last time I was able to eat it all. We invariably make a second meal from the doggie bag. Go early (before 5:30) or be prepared to wait.

Favorites: South West Pasta, Spinach Pasta and Lasagna
Comments: Zio's is truly the finest Italian restaurant in Kansas City bar-non, if you like 'spicy' Italian food. If you like bland "Pregosauce" tasting pasta, Zio's is not for you (try Gambucci). Otherwise, I can not say enough good things for the food taste at Zio's. My wife and I have visited many of the Italian restaurants in K.C. and Zio’s is still our favorite. Especially when it come to the bang for the back, there is no better value in K.C. My wife and I are regular customers (at least once a month) of Zio’s since it opened and we have tried most items on the menu and our favorites are listed above.

Comments: When we walked in the restaurant I noticed a table that was open but the greeter said we would have to wait about 20 minutes. 30 minutes later, we were seated at that very same table. Service was not great. Salad dressing was gross. After we ordered, we saw people come and go, and come and go again. We had to have waited 30+ minutes for our meal. Now, pasta doesn't take that long to cook. I was beginning to wonder if they were back there killing the chicken for my mom's salad. When the food finally did come, don't get me wrong, it was good, and there was a lot of it!

Food: **** superbNotes: It is always hot and fresh
Service: ** very goodNotes: One waiter I had a few times and did not like at all.
Favorites: Artichoke spinach pasta and dip, Tiramisu.
Comments: My all time favorite restraunt. I will never get sick of the food. Surroundings are nicely designed. Plus you can draw on the table! I recommend the Tiramisu for coffeeish lovers. And the Tirimisu slide for the more expensive 21 and over desert.

Restaurant: Zio'sLocation: 39th St by the Independence Center
Cuisine: ItalianPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: *** excellentNotes: Great Idea with the table covers
Food: *** excellentNotes: Large Portions - Always great taste
Service: *** excellentNotes: How do they get so good at writing backwards?
Favorites: Tiramisu - But everything I've tried so far is great.
Comments: My wife and I go here for our anniversary every year. They have a great atmosphere and also very family friendly if you want to take the kids. Servers have a great talent of writing their name backwards on the table cover so you can read it. Kind of fun to doodle on the table while you wait(makes you feel like a kid again). Great place to eat, never disappointed. Not sure what the other guy meant when he said they had small portions. He must eat whole chickens for appetizers ... lol
