Restaurant: MargaritasLocation: Holmes and 135th
Cuisine: MexicanPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: * averageNotes: Could be quieter
Food: **** superbNotes: Have never had a bad meal
Service: poorNotes: I absolutely love the food here but service is almost never
Favorites: Enchilada's and tamales
Comments: I have lived in California and then Colorado where there really is GOOD mexican food. Margarita's is the best food they have in Kansas City, and I am an expert on this subject, as its the only food I go out for. It is just such a shame that they can not seem to keep help as the service really is poor most of the time. Once in awhile you get someone who does not act like they are doing you a favor by filling up your chips and salsa. I love the restaurant though.....

Comments: Margarita's is a great place to eat. Where can you go and get ALL the free chips & sauce you can eat? Plus the weekly special keep you coming back. This is a place I take all my out of town company to, and they love it.. I think they do a great job for as crowded as it is all the time, no better place to wait than the BAR..

Comments: The restaurant was filthy, and lacked of any comfort. We had to be contortionists to sit where we were seated, It was almost impossible to get any service, and the food was the typical American idea of what Mexican food is. We got out as fast as we could. If only we had been getting sloshed at noon with all the "over 45" alcoholics at the bar, maybe we wouldn't have remembered it. We will never even TRY Margarita's again.

Comments: I, too, am perplexed why people are willing to wait in a crowded, hot area for this food. This particular restaurant was in a basement, and the space was crammed with small tables that had the waitstaff tripping constantly over the diners, those several lined up waiting, and of course over themselves.
Some low lights: We were a party of seven, missing two of the party, but they would not seat us. Yes, we know that they have probably been burned in the past by a small group taking up a large table and then not having the full party show up, but so what?
Another low light: When we ordered enchilladas minus onions for the kids, the waitress informed us that it's impossible to order them without onions. I asked why not, and was then told that they make all their enchilladas ahead of time. . . . So, that's an indication as to the freshness of the food.
Finally, the bathroom was so dirty that we decided to use facilities elsewhere. When a restaurant is not willing to make any concessions to its patrons, then that restaurant should be put out of business.
There's so many other great Mexican restaurants in town--or even average ones--that top this. When will KC wisen up?

Food: ** very goodNotes:
Service: poorNotes: Worst Service I have ever had!!!!
Favorites: Chips and Salsa
Comments: The Service was terrible, these people need to learn some etiquette! The Bus Boys are more helpful than the servers. They seem like they were swept off the streets and have no manners. The only thing good about the wait staff is that you don't feel bad when you don't tip them. The Food is great, and so are the Chips and Salsa. The owner just needs to get new wait staff.

Favorites: Margaritas and margarita dip.
Comments: The best margaritas in town...might depend on who is bartending. But most of the time they're great! They also have great hot sauce, the margarita dip is excellent, and so are the enchiladas and quesidillas.

Comments: If you are out for romance, cleanliness, or a kid-friendly environment, don't go for authentic mexican folks!!! For the best, best, best mexcian food in the 4-state region (in a close race with Los Corrales) go here! The beef tacos are unbelievable. This is a bar atmosphere, so don't expect top-notch service and comfort. And don't forget to leave room for dessert--Fried Ice Cream is out of this world! I can't walk into that place without getting some fried ice cream!

Favorites: Beef Nachos and Margarita dip. Rice and Beef Tacos
Comments: Grew up in KC, but now in Cali. The only food I miss is Margarita's. They have the best salsa, chips, rice, I don't think there is one thing that isn't good on the menu. Yes, you often will have to wait, but that clearly means people love it there. It's worth the wait! Service is awesome, and the enviroment is very upbeat. Go here you love it!

Ambience: * averageNotes: just so-so
Food: substandardNotes: sorry excuse for mexican food
Service: ** very goodNotes: good thing the service isn't as bad as the food
Favorites: have not found anything to like yet
Comments: Ironic that the name is Margarita's. The margaritas are far from notable. They suk. (for #1 margaritas, go to Guadalajara Cafe) I only go there for a free meal when my mom (who can't handle spicy food) wants some company on taco night. Tacos are drippin with grease, which is all they have going for them. Without the grese, they'd have no taste. The sauce is so bland, it can't possibly save them. And I have had better enchiladas from a Patio frozen dinner. It's just so bland. Why do people wait an hour for this place? I don't get it

Cuisine: MexicanPrice: $$$ moderate
Ambience: ** very goodNotes: Just keep showing the 'Hawks and keep MU off !
Food: ** very goodNotes: If you get a chicken entree it WILL be shredded white meat
Service: * averageNotes:
Favorites: Chicken Chimichanga
Comments: If you have a favorite Mexican entree' (such as mine, the Chicken Chimichanga) than you HAVE to try the one from Margarita's...they use ONLY shredded WHITE meat (as opposed to other restaurants in KC that even throw in dark meat and "chicken knuckle" et al). For the price, it is a great deal, eat half and take half home for later (the size of this entree is ample). One of my Top-5 meals in KC. Not to be missed ! !

Favorites: "The Cozumel"
Comments: I've eaten here several times and have enjoyed the meals and service every one of 'em. It seems to be a great, positive, upbeat clientele and the place is always busy. The only think that bothers me is watching the same people who clear the tables with their bare hands then reach into the drawer and use the same, unwashed bare hands to fill up baskets of nacho chips. Not good.
