Restaurant: The Salty IguanaLocation: 83rd & Mission [Corinth] center
Cuisine: MexicanPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: tackyNotes: Yes, but that's part of its charm!
Food: *** excellentNotes: Tasty, authentic dishes
Service: *** excellentNotes: Although it will vary on occasion
Favorites: Tamales, smokin' nachos, strawberry daquri
Comments: I've tried the tamales at all the usual mexican eateries in town and none come close to the Salty Iguana's. Treat yourself to a plate of smokin' nachos while you wait, they're fantastic! Don't forget to check out the blue corn tortillas on the menu along with the strawberry daquris -- two things other "mexican" eateries in the area don't serve. Of important note to parents, this restaurant is very kid friendly. The little ones can spend all night looking at the silly iguana paintings. However, since the resaurant is small, be prepared to put your name on the list and wait. Our family likes to walk around the corner to the pet shop to see the puppies while we wait.

Cuisine: MexicanPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: * averageNotes: paintings on the wall are neat
Food: substandardNotes: greasy chicken, tough steak, rice bland and undercooked
Service: * averageNotes: a little slow, however it was busy
Favorites: margaritas are really good
Comments: IT was very loud and noisey, crowded. Our food came in a timely manner, however it was not good at all. For a mexican restraunt, it isn't very authentic. However the margarita's are very good, the best I have had so far. Since Rio Bravo went out of business it is imposible to find a good mexican restraunt in KC.

Comments: I am a regular at the Salty Iguana. My wife and I eat mexican food only at the Iguana. Quality product and quality service for a great price. My grandchildren love "little lizard land" with an elaborate display of KC icons. My children enjoy the bar while I love the food and service. Everyone should go for the salsa, margaritas, fabulous enchiladas and burritos, and tamales, etc. 5 stars.

Comments: After many suggestions from friends, my family and I went to Salty Iguana. Expecting good Mexican food, we were very disappointed. The place is not very clean or large. Our chips were hard and cold and the salsa was average. Our meals were overpriced and the rice leaves a lot to be desired. The only tolerable item was their service which was very speedy and polite.

Restaurant: Salty IguanaLocation: Corinth Square, PV,KS
Cuisine: MexicanPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: * averageNotes: _
Food: * averageNotes: Lackluster effort for too many years.
Service: * averageNotes: Loads of, "I am in H.S. and why you here?"
Favorites: Cheese and grease. Plenty of it.
Comments: The chips win the award for the worst in town. How could a server or busperson not grab a chip and run to management and SCREAM these taste... like cold greasy nothing! Lack of effort all the way around. They must be complacent serving the kiddie crowd and serving food with a lack of creativity. However, all is not lost, the salsa is good and if you drink enough margaritas the food and the noise from all the snotlings can be drowned out along with your taste for quality mexican food.

Restaurant: Salty IguanaLocation: 83rd and Mission
Cuisine: MexicanPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: ** very goodNotes: The iguana murals make for a good game of I Spy with young kids
Food: *** excellentNotes: _
Service: ** very goodNotes: can be hit and miss when they are busy
Favorites: salsa, enchiladas, burritos, and sancho iguana style
Comments: My family eats here about once a week, even the kids love it. About once every four months we will have a bad meal, but overall the quality is very good. They have the best mild salsa in town. Very flavorful, and not watery like the usual offerings. Try to arrive a little before or after the general meal times to avoid a wait in the cramped lobby. Service can be spotty, but once your order is taken your food will arrive quickly. If you are dining with children ask to be seated by the mural. You can entertain fidgety pre-schoolers by playing "I Spy" with the mural.
