This is what Kansas Citians have been looking for. It is a nice atmosphere and in the old tradition of a sit down pizzeria/restaurant.

Favorites: Medium pizza for $4.99
Comments: When I first heard about Imo's, I heard it was the most awesome tasting pizza. Just moving here from California, I couldn't bear thinking a better pizza than my favorite, Round Table Pizza. When I got there, I was shocked by how thin the pizza was, but as soon as I took a bite, I fell in love. This pizza just melts in your mouth and makes you wanna not quit eating. We eat there two times a week now. Its well worth it!

Food: ** very goodNotes: You'll love it, or you'll hate it!

Favorites: Pizza!
Comments: Leo's might be Northland's best pizzaria--and from the looks of it, only known to Northlanders. It's possible that another Leo's used to exist in Johnson County (that's the rumor I've heard), but if so, it was before we moved to town, or we have been blindly stumbling around missing it. I grew up on Leo's, and I'm glad to know it's still there. The pizza is unique, and that's saying a lot, nowadays. The cheese--what they call provolone-- is like no other Provolone that I've had before, but it's a gooey, sticky, salty cheese that melts beautifully on the pizza and whose taste stays with you. The best ingrediants are the Italian sausage, which tastes spicy and homemade, and the sauce, which is truly wonderful. It's the only sauce I know of that has such a distinct, red wine flavor, along with garlic and oregano. Leo's offers great pizza and not much else. It's a bargain in price, and it puts the factory-processed Pizza Hut/Godfather's/Little Ceaser's, etc. chains to shame. If you find yourself in the Northland, search out this gem and see for yourself what makes Leo's so addictive to those who grew up on that flavor after swim meets and Little League games.

Favorites: pizza, secret recipe salad dressing
Comments: Using a creamy melt provelle cheeseand the best Italian sausage around, this pizza's distinct taste is roof-of-your-mouth, teeth sticking DELICIOUS!!!! Not a good "first" date adventure - but if he is feeding you pizza, dump him anyway!!!! :) MUST try the secret recipe dressing. You look at what appears to be bland looking salad, but between the sweet tang of the dressing and the cold provelle cheese topping, your taste buds are in for a wonderful surprise! YES, this is a whole in the wall, NO!!! It is NOT a waste of your time or money. Tis true, you either LOVE it or HATE it!

Favorites: sicilian, and the antipasto salad
Comments: this place is great!!!, very well trained staff and friendly I may add. the owner is a hoot, a very funny lady, and is great with children. the restrant is a very family oriented atmosphere, you can play games and watch the food being prepared. I must say that this has to be the best pizza I have ever had , and that is no joke, I am a pizza connoisseur, and have tried my fair share of pizzas, for I used to be a food critic for a news paper. but this has to be the best that I have ever had. oh yea and the salads are superb the one that I had was the cranberry apple salad with a "homemade" red raspberry dressing, and it has to be the best salad I have ever had the pleasure of eating, and the dressing was just delightful. having said all of that I would encourage any one who like pizza, "and who doesn’t" to give it a try.

Restaurant: Pizza ShoppeLocation: 2422 South 34th St., Kansas City, Kansas
Cuisine: Pizza/ItalianPrice: $$ inexpensive
Ambience: tackyNotes: dimly lit, smokey
Food: *** excellentNotes: Excellent pizza!
Service: *** excellentNotes: Very attentive
Favorites: Pizza
Comments: Went here trying to find a new place to eat pizza. Kind of in a location you may not want to be in after dark but that could just be us. The restaurant sits in a semi strip mall next to a laundromat. The interior is dark and somewhat reminds you of a neighborhood tavern. Don't let that put you off though because the pizza here is great! They use crumbled hamburger on their pizzas instead of the "meatball" type you get elsewhere. The crusts were flaky, crunchy and very delicious. This is more like true homemade instead of the stuff you get at Pizza Hut, etc. Their menu also shows a variety of pasta and sandwiches which look like they may be worth a try. The waitresses were right on top of things and keep our drinks filled and made sure everything was ok, even though it was shift change time. They also appear to have other locations around the metro. Pizza Shoppe is well worth a try the next time you crave pizza and don't want "big chain".

Restaurant: Pizza StreetLocation: 7399 Quivira Road, Shawnee, KS
Cuisine: PizzaPrice: $ bargain
Ambience: * averageNotes:
Food: *** excellentNotes: Some of the best tasting around
Service: *** excellentNotes: They ask what type of pizza you want them to make
Favorites: Spinach alfredo pizza
Comments: I truly didn't expect much when I saw "$2.99 All-You-Can-Eat" in their window. I envisoned 2 or 3 boring pizzas sitting under a heat lamp and not much else. Boy, was I wrong! They asked me TWICE when I came in what kind of pizza I would like for them to make. I was disappointed they had no anchovies but I quickly got over it when I saw what they had on their buffet. They must have had somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 pizzas out at one time and they were continually putting out fresh, new pizzas. They also yell out the name of the pizza when a new one is placed on the buffet. They make all different types of pizza including spinach and chicken alfredo pizzas that are excellent. And like I said before they will make whatever type of pizza you want. All of this for only $2.99 including salad bar and dessert pizza. With your drink (unlimited refills) the total only comes to about $4.39 so you can't go wrong at this place! I was used to the unimaginative big chains where all they serve is many different combinations of meatball and ? and if you are lucky they MAY put out a taco pizza. Try telling them at Pizza Hut what kind of pizza you would like them to make. You won't get far! Plus the big chains charge quite a bit more than Pizza Street. I highly recommend this restaurant and think everyone should give it a try.
